We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst for our technology department. You'll be responsible for understanding, documenting and improving our business processes and facilitating more-automated, efficient and streamlined digital solutions. You'll work across the business with our technical and commercial teams and with suppliers who provide external development and operations.

To be successful in this role you must be able to bridge the divide between business and technical domains. You won't need to be an engineer, but you will be technical enough to understand the capability of the systems we use now and in the future.

The role reports into the Head of Business Intelligence and Process Automation which is part of the technology & digital team. The majority of the technology team work remotely, and our sales and finance teams are 'hybrid' with a mix of working from home and from our bright and spacious headquarters in Royal Tunbridge Wells. This role will also be hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days a week in the office. The office has onsite parking available (booking required) and is only a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Responsibilities
  • You will do all of the groundwork needed to identify, analyse and document business processes in a visual, user friendly, format, in order that anyone can pick them up and follow the flow easily, seeing what teams and resources are needed at any stage, spotting any dead ends, inconsistencies, inefficiencies, or missing parts. Our documentation is a mixture of Lucidchart, Google Docs and Confluence.
  • Once the processes have been mapped, you will be able to suggest efficiencies and automations that can be made, proactively looking for opportunities to improve our processes and applications.
  • Alongside mapping and improving the efficiency of our processes, you will suggest metrics to help measure and manage the business. You will facilitate the provision of these metrics.
  • You will facilitate the developers in the creation of solutions in our technology ecosystem which currently consists of Looker, BigQuery, Retool, Zapier, Sage and Close, plus various peripheral systems. You don't need to be able to implement the technical solutions themselves but you will need to know the capabilities of what we have - the art of the possible - to then be able to suggest and discuss solutions with the business and technical teams. In doing this you will also need to be able to establish acceptance criteria and be jointly responsible for writing and executing test scripts and for UAT of any systems/processes to be implemented.
  • Drawing on both your own and your wider teams’ knowledge of user needs, digital technologies and delivery approaches, you will be able to design solutions which meet user expectations, budgets and timeframes, utilising your experience to identify and mitigate common pitfalls in digital delivery.
  • You will meet with users both in-person and virtually to define solutions and transform business practices.
  • You will work in tandem with other members of the technology team to serve as the subject matter expert on the business processes across the organisation
  • You will identify technical challenges and provide recommendations for improvement, focusing on customer satisfaction and efficiency.
  • You will communicate results and status to users, and programme or delivery managers.
  • You will work closely with technical team resources to resolve complex technical issues related to ongoing projects.
  • You will develop and deliver system training as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and map out complex business processes using Lucidchart
  • Ability to organise and manage workload efficiently and prioritise projects with minimal supervision
  • Evidence of prior related technical work experience
  • Experience of delivering change and transformation
  • Able to rapidly grow your network in the organisation to identify and collaborate with our engineers, analysts and the wider business to help develop new solutions and capabilities to meet user needs.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand technical concepts
  • Understanding of new technologies, methodologies and approaches
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace (G Suite)
  • Experience of working in consultancy or similar, would be of benefit but not essential
  • The confidence to push back when needed
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment (ideally)

Benefits

  • Private Healthcare Plan
  • Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Work From Home (3-4 days a week)
