We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join our clients Information Security team. In this role, you will support the operation and assurance of our security controls, contribute to security governance and assurance activities, and provide security input for IT change initiatives.

You will offer technical security expertise to assist the Information Security Manager in ensuring that information security is implemented and maintained effectively as we transition to the cloud. A strong working knowledge of Azure security technologies and hands-on experience with their operation is essential.

Key Responsibilities of the Cyber Security Engineer:

  • Provide security and risk assessment consultancy on projects, workgroups, and committees, offering recommendations for risk mitigation to ensure IT security is considered in the design of new or changing services.
  • Offer security expertise in cloud security, specifically Azure and Microsoft 365, covering both security and compliance controls and contributing to the overall security architecture of our cloud estate.
  • Perform security risk assessments and manage appropriate remedial actions to ensure IT infrastructure and application systems are adequately protected.
  • Escalate unresolved security exposures, misuse of resources, or non-compliance situations to management.
  • Ensure that Change Management processes include a security review, particularly signing off on all firewall rule set and networking changes to maintain network security integrity.
  • Support the information security team in daily activities including security monitoring, incident management, and participating in a future 24x7 support rota.
  • Mentor junior security team members.

Key skills of the Cyber Security Engineer:

  • Proven experience in security and risk assessment consultancy.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure security technologies with hands-on experience.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance controls for Microsoft 365.
  • Experience in performing security risk assessments and managing remedial actions.
  • Expertise in cloud security architecture.
  • Effective communication skills to escalate issues and mentor junior team members.
