Monday – Thursday 8am–4:30pm / Friday 8am–1pm

Based in Wrexham, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an IT Manager to join the team at our client’s site.  Your role is to support the team with the implementation and support of infrastructure systems and networking structures. This will include leading and supporting the IT team with project work, including the improvement of the company infrastructure in areas such as, windows servers, firewalls, routers, and switches.  To be successful, you will have experience of playing a key role in system change management processes.

Performance Objectives

  • Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures to support the organisation's goals and objectives.
  • Analyse departmental needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to inform business decisions.
  • Ensure network components work together seamlessly to meet business needs, using their full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features.
  • Prepare cost–benefit analyses when upgrades are necessary and monitor vendors to ensure that they’re offering the best-possible service and value for business needs.
  • Train employees to use software and hardware; troubleshoot issues and provide technical support when needed.
  • Develop and execute disaster planning and maintain data back-ups.
  • Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, and other support as required.
  • Plan and oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of IT systems and data through the implementation of cybersecurity measures, policies, and practices that support GDPR.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions and support to meet business requirements.
  • Manage IT projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and contracts, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimise downtime and mitigate against risks.

Person Specification

  • Certification in PRINCE2, 'Agile' project management, PMP or APM would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical background in systems administration, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
  • Experience with ITIL, or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualisation technologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) and industry.
  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISO/IEC 27001) and risk management practices.
  • Understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) to manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure and connectivity issues.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle ERP, Microsoft Dynamics) for integrating and managing core business processes such as finance, human resources, supply chain, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) for creating and managing virtual machines and virtualised environments to optimise resource utilisation and scalability.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and SQL language for database administration, performance tuning, and data management.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, PMP or ITIL certifications are highly desirable.
